About the backtests
Most of the results I share are hypothetical backtests. They show how a set of rules would have performed on historical data, not how real money actually performed. Backtests have real limits. They're built with the benefit of hindsight: my rules have been refined over time, partly by seeing how they would have done in the past, which can make results look better than anyone could have achieved in real time. They also rely on assumptions and models. For example, my LEAPS prices are estimated with a pricing model, not taken from historical option quotes, so they may not reflect the prices you could actually have traded at, especially in fast or thin markets. Unless a result says otherwise, it ignores taxes, trading costs, and the bid-ask spread. Real results will differ, sometimes by a lot. Past performance, real or simulated, does not guarantee future results.
Options carry real risk
Many of my strategies use LEAPS call options. Buying a LEAPS call can result in the loss of the entire premium you paid. Options provide leverage, which magnifies percentage losses as well as gains. Other options strategies, such as selling options, can carry risks beyond the premium. Don't use options until you understand exactly how they work and how they can go wrong.

When I show my own accounts, I'm showing what I do with my money, in my situation. It isn't a recommendation for yours. I may buy, sell, or change my positions or rules at any time without notice.

I work hard to get the numbers right, and when I find a mistake or update my data, I say so. I can't guarantee that everything here is complete, current, or error-free. Market data, fund details, and tax rules change.
