Why this site is free

Everything here is free: the Hangar, the data behind every episode, and the Flight Log. I built AutoPilot Your Wealth to show the work. That means sharing the rules, the backtests, and a look at my own accounts, so you can examine the work behind my conclusions without simply taking my word for them. Putting that behind a paywall would defeat the purpose, and I intend to keep it free.

The site still costs money to run, so here's exactly where money comes into the picture.

The research isn't for sale

This is the line I don't cross. No financial relationship decides which investments I test, how I build a backtest, what assumptions I use, or which results I publish. When a test comes out against what I expected, you see it. When I update my rules or my data, I say so and show what changed. My research and my conclusions are my own.

How I get paid

Affiliate links. Some links on this site, in my video descriptions, and in the Flight Log are affiliate links. If you sign up for something through one of them, I may earn a commission, usually at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are always disclosed.

Sponsorships. From time to time a company may pay to sponsor a segment of one of my videos. A sponsored segment is advertising, and it will always be clearly labeled as advertising. I write those segments myself, and I only take sponsors whose products I actually use. A sponsorship pays for a segment. It doesn't buy a conclusion.

The family test

Before I put any product in front of you, I ask one question: would I recommend this to my own family? If the answer is no, it doesn't show up here, no matter what it pays. Passing that test still doesn't mean a product is right for you. Your situation, your goals, and your account types are your own, and you should decide for yourself.

Tools I actually use

Seeking Alpha Premium. I was a paying subscriber long before Seeking Alpha and I had any business relationship, and I still use it for research. I'm now a Seeking Alpha affiliate and advertising partner. I may earn commissions through my links, and Seeking Alpha may sponsor clearly identified segments in my videos.
